ERdoc.com was started in 2021 and has gone through many iterations. The modern version is about sharing information about emergency medicine and medical conditions with the public.
Dr. William E. Franklin started ERdoc.com back then and continues to be the primary content source. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and has been since 1999.
Dr. Franklin graduated from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994. Before that, he attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and graduated in 1989. Before attending medical school, he spent a year as a research technician at the University of Iowa. After medical school, Dr. Franklin completed a 1-year internship at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens, MI. After graduating in 1995, he attended The Emergency Medicine Residency of the Lehigh Valley in Allentown/Bethlehem, PA. He graduated from this residency in 1998 and served as a medical officer in the United States Navy until 2001. Since then, he has been in private practice as an emergency room physician in Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas, and California. He earned an MBA with an emphasis in Healthcare Management from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT, in 2017.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Franklin is a husband and father. His interests include cycling, music, philosophy, and comedy.
